We carefully follow all government and LTA safe COVID practice, and coaching only goes ahead if
guidelines allow.  Both yours, and our coach’s safety, is of paramount importance to us. Our classes
are small, and we fall under the ‘professional organised sport' category. We sanitise our equipment
regularly, and provide players and coaches with hand sanitiser gel to apply throughout.

We ask all spectators and parents to maintain social distancing at drop off and pick up, and to
maintain safe distance when watching others play.

The common symptoms of COVID are a high temperature, a continuous cough, a loss or change to
your sense of smell or taste; however if you, your child, or any of your household feel unwell we would
ask you not to attend.  We reserve the right to ask a player to be taken home.  If anyone in your
household has been asked to self-isolate we would also ask you not to attend the club.

Please include all medical and allergy details on your online booking.  This information will be
shared with the coaches.

We recommend comfortable clothing you can run about in, and trainers which will support quick
directional movement. Always wear weather appropriate clothing; sun protection in warmer months,
and a raincoat in the wetter ones.  Please bring a bottle of water to rehydrate regularly.   Under current Covid guidelines you need to bring your own racket. We have new ‘self-isolating’ ones for sale if you need to purchase one. Please contact us prior to your lesson and we can arrange this.

Holiday Camps

Yes, absolutely! Our camps are a great way to start their tennis journey. We have a mix of beginners and experienced players at our camps, and we separate the classes accordingly. Our low
coach to player ratio means that all children are given the attention they need to progress. Our camps are based around games and fun, so the children do not realise all the technical aspects they
are learning along the way. They focus on new elements each day, and the condensed time period allows them to build their foundations quickly. In short, they hit a lot of balls!

Brenchley & Matfield Tennis Club, Brenchley Road, Kent, TN12 7NX.

Look for Brenchley Memorial Hall; drive to the left hand side of the building, keep driving straight ahead and the tennis club is at the end.  There is parking next to the courts.

All our holiday camps are 9.30am to 1.30pm. Main holidays are 5 days long; Monday to Friday,
and half term camps are 3 days; Tuesday to Thursday.

Please rest assured we design each day so it is packed full of games and fun. We are parents
ourselves, and we know how precious their school holiday time is. Our aim is to give your children
the best week of their holidays, surrounded by other children their age. They work in teams so there
is lots of fun and social interaction, allowing them to be competitive but not feel a constant pressure to perform. Our camps are carefully designed to incorporate a varied blend of technical skills and movement with a large dose of the fun factor.

We ask everyone to arrive promptly for a 9.30am registration.  Please collect at 1.30pm.

Yes, please inform us via email in advance.

Please book you child by age. We will make sure they are in the right group for their ability from
the first day.

Online bookings are for 5 days (main holidays) and 3 days (half term holidays).  We prioritise full camp bookings. Please contact us if you can only book single days and you will be added to a waiting list to be advised in the preceding week if there are any single day spaces available.

Our holiday camps (5 days camps) are £130 per week per player, and our half term camps (3 days) are £78 per player.  One day bookings (if there is space available the week before the camp) are £35 per day.

Our camps are run with the same class structure and coach allocation throughout the week.  We
are not able to swap children in and out on different days.

We price our camps at the same rate for all players, we do not offer sibling discounts. We set a fair price to reflect our small class sizes, and the level of technical coaching we provide.

Payment is taken at the time of booking to secure your place. We cannot hold a place without payment.

No you do not need to be a member, we welcome everyone to our camps.

We do not cancel camps for bad weather.  If it is raining we take cover, and work on psychomotor skills with the children until the rain passes.

If you cancel up to 14 days before a camp we will charge an administration fee per booking, and refund the remainder of your payment.  If you cancel 14 days or less before a camp then we will do our best to fill your place from our waiting list, and refund your payment less the administration fee.
We cannot guarantee this, and if it is not possible we will not be able to offer a refund.

A.Children need to wear trainers and comfortable clothing suitable for running around in.  Please bring a jumper & raincoat if there is a chance of cold or rain (always useful with changeable UK
weather!), and a sunhat and sunscreen during summer.  The children need to bring a packed lunch, a few snacks, and a refillable drinks water. We operate a NO NUTS policy so please ensure no food with nuts is brought to camp.

Usually parents leave their children with us, and do not stay.  We will have your emergency
numbers. Go off and enjoy some free time safe in the knowledge they are having fun with us!

Weekly Coaching

Before booking any lessons please contact us to talk about your level, or your child’s, and times
that work best for you. Existing players are always offered places for their class the following term, so some may be full, but we will do all we can to find an option that works well for you.

Open group and private group classes are booked for a full term, and they run each week
(excluding one week over half term).  Private 1:1 lessons are booked directly with the coaches. You are welcome to come along and try a lesson before committing to the full term (or remainder of term if you are joining part way through).

We have three terms running throughout the year; Spring (January – March), Summer (April – July) and Autumn (September – December).  We take one week off a term for half term.  Specific dates for the current term can be found on our weekly class booking page.

For existing players please book four weeks prior to the start of term to secure your place. If you are new to Evolution Tennis please contact us so we can find the most suitable for you. New players are welcome to start part way through a term.

Yes, if you are new to Evolution Tennis and joining us part way through the term please contact us
to find a suitable best class for you; we will be able to pro-rata your booking for remainder of the term. If you are an existing player we ask for full term bookings four weeks before start of each term to
secure your place.

For all open and private groups we ask for full payment in advance of the term. 1:1 individual
coaching is more flexible, please discuss this with your chosen coach.

Yes, you need to be a member of Brenchley & Matfield Tennis Club (BMLTC) to have coaching on
club courts.  This payment goes directly to BMLTC, and allows you to book courts outside of
coaching, free flood lights, access to social tennis and social events, and also represent the club in
competitions if you would like to.  You can play a couple of times before committing to membership to
make sure it is right for you.  Please find access to BMLTC membership here:
https://www.brenchleyandmatfieldtennis.co.uk/membership and if you have any membership
questions please contact membership@brenchleyandmatfieldtennis.co.uk

No, Evolution Tennis pay for your court fees. These are included in your lesson price.

No, this is included in your club membership which is very unusual for a club. Play when you want,
you are welcome!

Yes, we play in light rain as long as it is safe to do so.  Please wear waterproofs and weather
appropriate clothing, and we will keep you moving to warm you up!  If the coach feels they are unable
to coach in the weather, they will contact you directly prior to the lesson to let you know.  We do not
make this call until closer to the start of the lesson as the UK weather system is so hard to predict and we have learnt over the year the weather forecast is often wrong! Only the coach decides if a lesson
can go ahead or not. If you don’t hear from them assume the lesson is on.

You do not have to stay, although you are very welcome to watch. We have a lovely café on site
and footpaths from the tennis club so you can go for a walk if you choose. The coaches have your
emergency numbers and will contact you should they need to.

We refund for up to two cancelled lessons a term.  During the winter months we include an
additional rain week at the end of term, which we will default to if a lesson is cancelled due to bad weather.  If a refund is due, you will be given a credit code for your online booking to following term.
This credit is not transferable between players and can only be used the following term where a full term is booked. We do not refund if you are unable to attend a class for any reason.

Tournament FAQs

We organise a junior tournament each term; Spring, Summer and Autumn

Each category start times varies according to the players ages. Please see the online booking table for competition times.

Our tournaments are held at Brenchley & Matfield Tennis Club, Brenchley Road, TN12

please drive to the left of the building and you will find the tennis club at the far end of the
road. We have ample parking, and surrounding fields to walk in.

We charge £12 per player, and this covers all their matches they play on the day, and
their LTA player registration (where you provide us with LTA membership details – see below for more information)

We encourage all children who are confidently rallying to take part. If you are unsure please ask your coach and they will advise.

You do not need to be a member, we welcome all players.

Our tournaments are about having fun, and experiencing what it is like to play in a
competition. We want children to enjoy their time so they are not put off by competitive play.

Please select the age group that matches your child’s age on the day of the tournament.

Yes, we will play on in light rain, please wear weather appropriate clothing. If we need to

In Spring 2021 the LTA introduced a new player rating system, and the new ITF World
Tennis Number. This is accessed through ‘Advantage’ where you claim you own free ITF
world tennis number. It is a brand new rating for recreational tennis players, similar to golf
handicap, based on a range of data from previous matches (if you have played already). For
more details about player ratings, please go to this LTA link:
https://www.lta.org.uk/play-compete/competing/player-ratings-rankings/lta-ratings/

It is a single global tennis rating for all players, regardless of age, ability or gender – from
the world’s elite to a player taking part in their first competition. Players are given a rating
from 40 to 1, with recreational players starting close to 40 and the professionals being close
to 1. For more information please go to the LTA link
